I just ordered a ThinkPad X200 and will sell my ThinkPad X300 to my brother. I just wanted to see how many people think I made the right move.

I never use the CD drive and don't really need it. I will be using the laptop strictly for office, browsing and maybe, maybe get away with some gaming with the X4500, which is not a priority. I preferred the X60s over the X300 and wanted something in between.

By selling the X300, I will afford the X200 and spare a little cash. So, which one would you choose?

A more direct comparison would be the yet-to-be-released X200s and the X300.

Tough choice, the extra RAM on the X300 would appeal to me. Not to mention the included optical drive is nice to have even though like you I rarely need it. I don't know how much slower the X300 processor is but the 4GB and SSD would be nice.

Nah, with a low voltage processor I'd rather stick with the X300. What got me excited about the X200 is the 2.4GHz and looong battery life.

Hmmm, now you have me thinking. If a P8600 X200 manages to get near 10 hours of battery life on Andrew's review, how much would a low voltage model get? I'm guessing somewhere closer to 14 or even more.

By the way, I got my X200 from Amazon and expecting shipping in a couple of days. Only info I got was the processor and hard disk, I'm assuming it's the "best seller" model. Anyone has an idea on rams? Is it a single 2GB stick or two? What about the hard disk speed and the OS?

LOL, they had me with the P8600 :p

There are only 2 sellers on amazon, this one and this one. One is more expensive than the other by almost 300$ and I'm assuming the latter one has the docking station but not really sure.

Any insight and more info on the specs I got would be highly appreciated.

I miss not having a mouse pad and having no space to the left/right of the keyboard. I'm just dissapointed that only widescreen are available now. Oh well, when in Rome ...

:werd: the x61s is the last of its breed. i'm gonna keep using it until SSD drives become mainstream.

i would get a x200 though if i were to buy a laptop now. it's just not that much of an upgrade from a x61.
