FYI someone said on lenovo forums that x220 tablet production begins may 10th so shipments should hopefully start soon after.

    Just ordered the following :D
    [IMG]

My estimated ship date is 5/31, I have no idea how I'm going to bear the wait. I'm so excited, this is going to be an incredible laptop! I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the X220 threads here for supporting my decision.

EDIT: The reason I opted for the stock HDD is I plan on getting either the 40GB or 80GB Intel 310 SSD

    4/24 with the VIP Code.

I initially saw a report of maybe the laptops running warm so I canceled the order via chat. A couple of days later I changed my mind and, via chat again, asked them to not cancel it. I'm glad it's shipping because I really want that IPS display, but if this thing warms up too much on the lap (bottom of it) or the palm rest area its going back.

I usually adjust the power settings down so that it's never really running that fast and have max fan on so I've been moderately successful on other Thinkpads. My T60p is great and my W500 great, but I've had several that haven't been. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

I also got the expedited shipping so I should have it by Wed/Thu.

BTW, if anyone has Power setting recommendations for controlling heat that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

IMO if your W500 was fine you should have no issues. My experience with my W500 is that it ran scorchingly hot under practically any loads (probably due to the discrete GPU, as the T400 didn't). I can't imagine a dual core and an integrated GPU pumping out enough heat to make it too hot.

Mine finally shipped, ordered on the 4-24. The only way to deal with the wait kpresler is to come here and read, go to youtube watch others Play with theirs so by the time you get yours its like a gold medal etc. hehe.

That's the plan, I've been obsessively reading and re-reading everything I can find on the X220 since I first saw it a few days ago and knew it was perfect. Now time to check other forums and Youtube.... :D

    @Bassmastamike,

I ordered the same config as you on 4/20 and have yet to get a ship notice. Also ordered an ultrabase and a slice battery. Still says 5/13.

Actually that's why I bought my W500 with the P chip and used it with integrated graphics :) I don't need power so much as portability and battery life. I'm hoping the i7 chip is enough power to clock down and still be fast enough for my needs.

Is the Vertex compatible? I heard some SSDs are not and some are, getting hard to keep up with which ones are good and which ones aren't.

Bah, I'm having the opposite problem. The order I placed on 5/1 and cancelled on 5/4 (still in process), just shipped as of 5/8. The reps kept telling me the cancellation was "in process". I really don't need two of these... I had another order placed with the upgraded processor right after cancelling the first one (which obviously didn't cancel). I hope I can get my money back.

I want to know why my machine is still in process.
Ordered on 4/20, est. ship date is 5/13

And is i7 plus 9cells the reason slows my order down?

Looks like they have got the 9 cell batteries in stock sooner than expected.
I was told a delay until May 25, but have just got the shipping message.

My order is still in process, and no shipping message is arrived.

I wonder if there is something wrong with my payment, because I use the Amazon Checkout instead of Lenovo Checkout.

Ahh, OK. I use mine currently only as a desktop (it suffered a tragic accident that destroyed the screen, the HDD, and part of the case), but I received mine with a T9600 and I used exclusively the dedicated GPU (whenever I tried to switch on-the-fly, Windows 7 would crash) so I could relax by gaming a bit. I was more interested in the 1920x1200 screen than anything else, battery life and temperatures were less important.
That's before the 8% discount, but also before 7.5% in sales tax. So it came out to about that price in the end. I contemplated the i7, but this will already be by far the fastest laptop I've ever had, and I thought that the extra money would best be spent on a SSD

With signatures, does the person who the package is addressed to have to sign it, or can someone at a loading dock or a front desk sign for it?

The part of my order that shipped separately just required any signature (didn't even have to be an adult, according to the slip). Rules may be different if you opted for the faster shipping, though.

CTO Ordered 4/23, Est ship 5/13, Shipped 5/9, ETA 5/12 (Ground shipping):

    i7, 9-cell, 4Gx1, 250GB, IPS, BT, Cam, FP, 6205, 7HomePrem

The IBM system didn't give me any kind of heads up that it was working its way through manufacturing, but it does show the tracking number where the Lenovo system still says "tracking available the morning after shipment."

It looks like the 4-cell that I ordered with the system is still slated for a 6/6 ship date. The slice I ordered through accessories arrived just a few days after I ordered it (late April) despite a late May ETA.

Another update from CostCentral. Email from a sales rep -

"I have contacted the warehouse and they said the Lenovo was behind on manufacturing. It should only be another 7-10 business days by the time they get it manufactured and shipped out to you."

So it looks like 5/20 is a more realistic ship date for tablets now.

Hopefully it ships sooner if the quote on the lenovo forums stating that tablet production begins on 5/10 is accurate.

And to think I preordered this ....

He means $9 upgrade to a 9-cell, not a 9-cell on its own for $9 (although its a good deal either way).

I think the biggest steal for me was getting the 4 year Onsite + Protection for $288 after that VIP discount code. I plan on giving this to my daughter in probably a year or two and lord knows she's gonna need it! She hasn't learned how to be careful with electronics yet as I have :)
