Just saw this deal on Slickdeals.net so credit goes to the OP there, this is a nice deal. The X230 starts at $595 with the 6-cell battery and no other upgrades after you use coupon 3DAYSALE.

Barnes and Noble Gold | Lenovo | (US) (sign up if you are not already, anyone can register)

Highly recommended upgrades are to Core i5 ($30) and IPS screen ($50), that would bring the total to $675.

Did you select the 2x2 antenna when choosing the screen? If you select the 3x3 antenna , you can't get a camera with it.

Everyone references the "Barnes and Noble Gold" discount. However, I am long since out of school. I am precluded from signing up for this? If so, then I will just have to use my brother-in-law who is sadly enough almost half my age.

With prices like these showing up fairly regularly for thinkpads nowdays, it's no wonder the quality is declining...

Quality is declining everywhere, but it's especially annoying when I have to pay 2x here while 1 USD= 1 CAD. :(

Nope, they do not ask for any proof of being students, faculty, etc (unlike other educational discount programs from Microsoft, HP, etc).

this was what i was going to suggest, but then i re-read and saw he bought an x220, the deal is for an x230..i doubt Lenovo would price match across two different models..or would they? :D
