If you're referring to the lid not completely closed, then there's nothing to worry about. Almost all ThinkPads will have 1-2mm of extra space when the lid is shut. My X61s does the same thing.

Thanks sp00n, but does it make that sound too? I don't recall that on my X60s.

That soft clicking is about what my T43p sounds like when I do the same thing. My X31 does not do it.

That clicking noise is probably from the plastic plastic latch.

I actually love it's looks, especially now that I've seen it on video :p

It's just that I tried one today in a store, it rattles just not half as much!

It reminds me that at least three reviews of the new X200, mentioned that the LCD hinges are too loose, and the screen falls down if at certain angles.

I wonder if Lenovo is starting to skimp on build quility/ quality control...

Do not worry about this. If it bothers you that much, you can call Lenovo and send it in, they will replace the noisy latch, however the noise itself will not go away completely, it just won't or shouldn't be as noisy...

Both my T60 and T61 have that issue of the lid not closing 100%. In the beginning it would really get to me, but now I've learned to deal with it...

It's very normal so I wouldn't worry about it...

my T42P is closed i have to left it up and down to hear the noise

the X300 seems is being lefted up by default so when hear the noise when you press it down (or is it touching the keyboard in the first place?)

even my x300 does the same...

The rattle is from up front, not the keyboard area. But yes, you're right. It's when I push it down, the rattle begins.
