    Hi,

Here's the thing, my T61p is always really hot. For example, it was idle all night and right now CPU is 77°C and GPU 70°C (SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE IN THE TITLE, IT'S °C AND NOT °F. It is kind of hot for an idle Laptop no ? And the fan seems to work normally. What can I do ??

    Thank you

EDIT: Here's what my Power Manager looks like:
Maximum CPU speed : Highest (Could it be the problem? Maybe I should put it on adaptive? But will it slow my PC ?)
CPU deeper sleep : Disabled (What do you think about this one ??)
Optimize fan control to : Maximum performance

    EDIT2 : It's in °C, sorry for the mistake

No that is rather/real cool, yet if you meant 77c & 70c
Yes that is warm/hot idle, you may want to check for dust within
    the cooler vents

You can leave this on Adaptive. It won't be slower.

CPU deeper sleep : Disabled (What do you think about this one ??)

Enable this unless you find that there is CPU whine that you cannot stand

Fan should run more. Leave this for the AC profile.

I've found that the video playback profile was the best for perfornance and heat balance. Well, actually I use tpfancontrol and have the fan off until the CPU hits 65C. :p

Do I have to open the laptop for this? If yes, do you know an online guide with pictures to help me get to the fan? Thank you

Maximum Performance on Power Manager will make your system very hot, either go to Adaptive mode or create a custom profile (under advanced) where you can tone down the settings of CPU performance and Power Consumption slightly.

You can find diagrams and instructions on your T61p by searching the Lenovo site for the "T61 Hardware Maintenance Manual". Consider adding some fresh new thermal paste too if you're taking out the fan for cleaning.
