If you press on the center of the lid when it is closed, the lid sinks about 1mm. My older T40 does not do this. Do any R61, T61, and X61 owners experience this as well?

I wonder if this is a feature or just poor design. If this is a feature, the only reason I can think of is to act as a buffer. If there's pressure exerted from the top, the lid would slump and prevent the screen from touching the keys and trackpoint.

There was a post about this a few weeks ago where I found out that LenovoBlogs had an article about the "feature" of the arched lid designed to withstand pressure better.

Whether you buy it or not is up to you.

You don't even know if that really was a laptop. Maybe it was just a ThinkPad-colored brick.

i've heard about issues with pressure marks on the lcd from piling textbooks on a closed thinkpad....i doubt that motorbike thing is real....real as that astronaut uses a thinkpad underwater in the videos on the lenovo site
