Hi everybody,
I'm kind of new to the world of laptops, and I have very little information about the next move computer manufacturers are going to make, so I have a question about an ad I saw in the paper this morning for Lenovo laptops. The ad had a picture of the notebook in question, which was marked with the "Lenovo" label and looked completely different from the ThinkPads.
Now that ThinkPads are being manufactured by Lenovo, do you think they are going to be phased out entirely and replaced by the Lenovo line? I hope not, because I personally think that the ThinkPads are much more beautiful computers with better build quality.
Anyone have any info on this?

Lenovo will never replace the thinkpad line. Thinkpads have and always will be the best notebooks. I will say that thinkpads make what IBM is today. If they get rid of the thinkpad line no one would buy lenovo notebooks and they would become bankrupt.
The only downside to them is their premium price. Lenovo introduced this new line to cater to budget users. Lenovo is just simply trying to cater to a wider audience while still keeping its core products(thinkpads) intact. -
Lenovo has 4 more years left to be able to use the "IBM Thinkpad" labels. After these 4 years, they will no longer be named as "IBM Thinkpad".

While the thinkpad label will be gone, the quality and everything else will not.

Probably just call them ThinkPads after the deal expires.

IBM should havenever sold off the laptop division. the pc division sucked but not the laptop ones....
ThinkPad laptops switching completely to Lenovo?
