These are the screens magnifications for some Lenovo HD+ FRUs:

    FRU 04W3331 - LG LP140WD2-TLD2
    [IMG]

    FRU 04W3922 or 93P5685 - Samsung LTN140KT03401
    [IMG]

    FRU 93P5693 - AUO B140RW02 V1
    [IMG]

Images are coming from Japanese site review of T430s. There are few more interesting details regarding gamma curves and color range but I did not want to copy them here. You can see them at the link below.

    ThinkPad T430s

AUO implemented non-glare in slightly disturbing bubbly fashion.

Awesome find, and this jives with the general wisdom here: the quality of your screen is a function of random chance. I have a Samsung screen on my T430s and it's honestly not terrible. There's lots of room for improvement, but I've seen ThinkPads with far worse. Glad to see the popular wisdom proven.

Since I don't read Japanese, what is the conclusion? The LG is best and pot luck sucks?

Google's Auto translate attempt isn't bad.

It seems they're saying the Samsung and LG panels are average for laptops, and the AUO panel is subpar. The Samsung panel is reviewed in that article, the AUO panel was reviewed previously in a T420, and the LG panel will be reviewed in the future.

Nice find, I always thought AUO had over did it with their anti glare coating and it seems the close up magnification of the screen proves it.

Kinda thin, kinda light and always best for business. What are we trying to confirm? :D

At my workplace, we have four Lenovo laptops:
    - A T430s with a B140RW02 V1 display (1600x900)
    - A T430s with a LP140WD2 display (1600x900)
    - A T420 with a LP140WD2 display (1600x900)
    - A T410 (didn't check the exact display) (1440x900)

We put all four side by side, and the results are pretty clear:
    - The T410 has the best display. It's quite different from the other three.
    - The T430s with the B140RW02 V1 is the second best. It has a "shiny" appearance that is a bit overwhelming at first, and a slight "grid / screen door" pattern compared to the T410, but generally it looks pretty good.
    - The T430s and the T420 with the LP140WD2 are the worst. The "grid / screen door" pattern is much more pronounced on these displays, and is somewhat distracting. In our office, some people find it more bothersome than others.

I was surprised that, at least in our case, the B140RW02 V1 was better than the LP140WD2, given what has generally been reported. Neither display is really great, but we definitely thought the B140RW02 V1 looked better given the few laptops we compared.

I have a B140RW02 V1 (info out there seems to conflict on whether its LG or AUO) and "grid" or "screen door" do not come to mind at all when l look at it. Instead it seems to have a shimmering textured quality to the surface that can be slightly distracting when concentrating on the screen. I don't think its as bad as the screen door effect.

That's the "gritty" effect caused by the antiglare coating. Worth emphasizing that antiglare coatings vary in quality and sometimes such coating can be applied excessively (i.e. the film can be distractingly thick and uneven).

Maybe it gets better with successive cleanings.

    Not really.
