    Depends on what do you want to do with the machine. It will be a very good configuration for general use (surfing, email, coding etc) but it will suck for games. Basically my point is that usefulness of a configuration cannot be determined without specifying the intended usage.

    Yes, you are right. I am mainly going to use it for coding etc.
    I am mostly concerned about the screen: is this screen bright enough with good viewing angles? Is it worth getting the wsxga+?
    I hated Dell screen, it was horrible beyond description. .

    P.S. bman22, I simply used education->student discount.
