1995: First ThinkPad I wanted. It was sold fod over $3000. My father was about to buy it when my uncle said its way too expensive and so I ended up with a brandless desktop.

2002: I wanted to buy a laptop, but just couldn't pay the huge amount for a thinkpad that other laptops offer similar specs at much lower price.

2007: Fiancee wanted to order me thinkpad tablet pc, her order was rejected, lenovo don't sell to international credit cards.

2008: (June) My university notified me that I'll be receiving a ThinkPad laptop (R61). Semester almost over, everyone got their laptops, and for some reason they're unable to give me my thinkpad! (ran out of stock!!)

Two days ago: I found out about Lenovo outlet store. got good deal on brand new tablet.

Yesterday: Placed an order with AMEX credit card (supposedly this is the only card they wont decline even if it was from international bank).

Now i'm wondering... what could go wrong?

the good thing is, its from a canceled order. meaning they already have it and ready to be shipped. they just have to process the order.

but even if things work out quickly and ship it soon. i'm sending it to my parents address. meaning i wont be able to pick it up till january!

Why not have your parents ship it to you? I hope it was worth the wait.

I'm paying $35K tuition per year, so its not really 'free' for me. But I'm sure other local students who get free education will also receive the same laptop for 'free'.

Hey zerosource, I paid $4200 with taxes (real price $5500) but using Lenovo's employee's website without ID (I don't work for Lenovo). Sometimes they let you use it (last time it was possible between the 30 and 31 of October) and I saved $1300!! Much better than any ecoupon or special offer out there!

    Got the info from HERE

    Hope that helps!
