Is it possible to ask it to turn off the display automatically after certain mins to "preserve" the screen if you are going to be away from the laptop for a while? Or such function is only available under Windows own Power Manager? Thanks!

I thought ThinkVantage Power Manager already does that. If you pick Power Source Optimized, Energy Star, or Maximum Battery Life schemes, it should turn off the display after 5 or 10 minutes. If you pick Maximum Performance or Presentation, the display will never turn off. Have a look at the settings in Power Manager.

I'm using Power Source Optimized and noticed "Turn Off Monitor" setting under AC says "never". There's no way to change this even if you create a new power profile. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Is your notebook plugged into AC power? If yes, then Power Source Optimized will not turn off your monitor when plugged into AC power. Pick a power scheme that lets you automatically turn off your monitor. You can always create your own power scheme that lets you do that.

Exactly, just create a new power scheme and configure it as you wish...
