Hi all,
I can no longer get the ThinkVantage Productivity Center on my ThinkPad T61 (Windows Vista) to open. I've tried opening it through the Start menu and with the blue "ThinkVantage" button on the computer. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?
Thanks!

You could re-install it.

have you recently disabled any modules in startup? make sure you check the windows task manager to see if this module: LPMGR.EXE is still there. that's the module for lenovo productivity manager. without it, you can't use the thinkvantage button.

main program location: C:\Program Files\ThinkVantage\PrdCtr
LPL1.exe is the main file for thinkvantage productivity center -
I am suddenly having the same problem. Seems to coincide with patch tuesday. I know I installed some Microsoft Updates.

I am having the same problem. This only started today, after running the system update using ThinkVantage. After having a different problem with my T61 I was told by Lenovo not to use Windows Update (is this true -they assured me it was?) but only to use the ThinkVantage update. Now after having used it for the first time the following happened:
The update appeared to be frozen at the last step
The system did not respond the a request to display Task Manager
I only got back to Task Manager by switching user.
It reported that they update was complete
but
now
when I hit the blue button or click on the shortcut I get a window that says "LPL1 an unsupported operation was attempted". Googling this produced surprisingly few results - surely I'm not the only one with this problem.
So, now, if ThinkVantage won't work, and Lenovo say not to use Windows Update, how do I ever update my system. Maybe I don't need to? Fortunately everything else works OK.....but...for sure I'm going to back up my data daily; I don't trust this machine any more. -
Hi there to those that are interested.
I used System Restore to go back to before I tried ThinkVantage System Update and (well, whaddayaknow?) the blue button now works.
Now I am only going to install the updates one by one to find out which one is causing the problem. I won't tell you or Lenovo because nobody is paying for my time.
Funny how there are no posts from Lenovo people on this site. Once they have your $ they don't care? Well, that's what I understand from my dealings with them.
Why is it that Lenovo's own "System Uupdate" software manages to screw up their own ThinkVantage blue button so that all you see is a window that says "LPL1 an unsupported operation......". How (UN)impressive is that?
One can only assume that they are able to continue selling computers because other manufacturers' stuff is even worse.
The person who can produce a computer that actually works will make a fortune. Or at least that's what a reasonable person might have thought before we all heard of W. Gates and Windows.
I h8 wasting my time on trying to make my laptop work properly after having paid a lot of $ to buy it in the first place. -
Well guys it's good to hear other people getting brassed off with IBM Lenove T61, I have vista as well.
The whole expereince has been very poor for me over the last 9 months with my T61. The communicaiton I have had with IBM has been very poor too!
I will go as far as to say that if this is what high tech is in the 21st century we better start praying that the same intelligence is not in the aircraft systems we fly in etc! -
Guess what guys, I installed some MS Vista updates and now my ThinkVantage Productivity Center and the button don't work!
Is there a solution to this besides reversing the MS updates?
