Hi...
Got a question:
I downloaded the System Update utility and ran it. It downloaded the information and found that there were no updates.
But I find this strange because when I checked, I found that the BIOS which is installed is a 2.xx version while the new one is 3.xx. Also, there are AMT drivers which are missing, which I found when I checked the Device Information. Should not the System Update find this and if not download, then at least alert me about this?
Cheers!

System Update is a bit strange of late, normally it would flag up the outdated BIOS and drivers then install it for you but it is not perfect. Personally for BIOS updates I prefer to do it manually using bootable discs during startup. The least thing you want is the Windows BIOS update utility to freeze while wiping out your whole BIOS (it happened to me with my ASUS P5B-Deluxe motherboard
). Doing it via the old DOS way makes the process a bit more safer out of experience.
If you know what you need to install then you don't really need System Update. I just use the driver matrix from Lenovo (for your R400 is here) and store them on a separate media like a CD-R or USB for future use. -

I don't know what really happened, but this morning, I tried System Update, and it worked. It downloaded 18 updates (including the update for the BIOS) and installed them flawlessly!
Sorry, maybe I spoke too soon. Anyways, all good now. Machine appears to be working flawlessly. Touch wood!
