about 7 hours ago my computer produced a pop-up sayiing: "A program can't display a message on your desktop>Show me the message>remind me in a few minutes"

So I went to the message and it was thinkvantage updates. Thinking it prolly would be a good idea to update my computer I clicked download and it had 2 updates. I stopped on 1 of 2 and overall 69% and it has been like that for about 6 hours now.... I don't know what to do. I tried canceling it but that just froze everything up in the separate screen that the interactive services dialog detection thingy took me to to see the message. I tried to just exit out of the interactive box but it pops back every few minutes. Its making my regular computer performance slow. What can i do?

    How about re-booting?
