I assume most here are Thinkpad/IBM fans. I'm curious if you also choose Thinkcentre for your desktop? (this is not the wrong forum because I want to know what desktop the Thinkpad fans prefer).

I have a Thinkcenter M55 SFF, pretty good computer
-
I havent owned a desktop for about two years now and if i did choose to get one, it would most likely be something i scrapped together myself. If I didnt have the time to scrap one together, I would probably buy a bottom end thinkcentre or dell and deck it out.
-
Nope- built one myself.
-
Good for you
When will you be able to build a notebook?
A 24" iMac seems nice
-
Building is the best bang for the buck. Just be sure to know what you are doing.
-
i can't, thats why i bought a thinkpad
It costs ALOT more building a PC on your own assuming you are doing it legitimately...legit OS, new keyboard, mouse, etc
Most people that scrap their own pc's together usually have a licence for windows as well as some reusable parts on hand. -
Why are you rolling your eyes? You wanted to know about choice of desktop, I told you I built mine. That has no bearing on my choice of laptop.
-
I'm overcorrecting the effect of watching an off-centered screen
-
I build my own with the help of pricewatch.com and newegg
I disagree that it costs a lot more. In my experience you can always break even if not save substantial amounts of money building your own. Plus, you decide what hardware you want/need. -
Yeah, but it's off-centered to the right, not up.
-
Also, a legit OS can be free -- Ubuntu if you need it! I use it on an older laptop.
A input devices can be purchased as little as 6 bucks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823157013
and something decent for around 15-20... -

Too bad we can only find them from Flash80
