    Thinking about buying the T440s, the FHD IPS screen any good?

    Hey guys,

    I haven't been on these forums in a while but wanted to ask the people that own the new T440s if you got the FHD IPS panels? I remember on the T420 that I had a few years ago, I was disappointed only by the display other than that the thing was solid.

    I've never used the new keyboard as well (chick-let style as to the classic style) and was wondering what your opinion about that as well? Are the new keyboards as good as the old or better?

    I think the keyboard is awesome. Had a T410 and T400 (plus older machines, T61, T60, T42, T40 and so on) before but this new keyboard is definitely good!!!

    IPS screens are a touchy matter now. There are 2 versions, the LG one and the AUO, you want the AUO version as LG sucks.

    The FHD IPS screen is very, very nice.

    As for the keyboard/trackpoint, the change is drastic enough to warrant testing it in person prior to purchase.

    My $0.02 only...

    Yeah, it's too bad they dropped the ball. I'd be very interested in a T440p. I'd even entertain the idea of the chiclet, which I thought was pretty good as keyboards go. As much as I like my X220, I probably don't need that much mobility. ThinkPads are really difficult to see in a store too. Of course I live in the sticks, which doesn't help. I did see an Edge at Best Buy a few years back before change, but last time I was there a few months ago, they were long gone.

    I upgraded from a x201 to t440s touch. The screen is amazing, keyboard is almost as nice as the old lenovo. Battery life is great. The only issue I have is the clicking touch pad, it's almost useless w track point. But using it as just a touch pad is pretty good. Almost as good as a apple touchpad, certainly one of the better windows machine touchpad.
