I've been looking for a basic notebook for a couple weeks now and I think I've settled on the lenovo brand. I was originally going to go for this deal here at bestbuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8929056&type=product&id=1214611367317

But now I've come across a coupon code for the Y series at the lenovo website and came across this: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...low:java-configure?x=x&sb=:00000025:000019EB:

This loses one gig of memory but upgrades the integrated graphics to a 8600m GT(S?) 256mb. With the coupon code it comes to $764.15. Here is the code: USPIDEAPAD15.

Is this a good deal? I've always had respect for the lenovo brand but never owned one, is the IdeaPad Y510 a good quality laptop? I'm gonna use this for college, and a little gaming, especially with the upgrade to the 8600m GT(Or should I just get the one at best buy).

Also, are there any other coupon codes for this laptop that are better, or that I could use with the one I've already posted?

EDIT: One more question. Would the 12.5% cash back through live.com qualify with this product? (Would my coupon code still work with it also?)

IdeaPad Y510 is a good deal. Some of my friends have it and they love the laptop to no end. The dedicated graphics card version can probably take any game thrown at it, though not always on highest of settings.

Although Ideapads are the consumer line of the Lenovo, most people agree that they still retain higher-than-average build quality.

What you should be aware of though, is that Y510 is a bit on the heavy side, so if you need to carry your laptop all the time, it might not be such a great choice. (In that case I would suggest Ideapad U330 with its 13in screen) Also, the 15in Ideapad line had been recently upgraded with Y530, but Y530s have weaker graphics than the Y510s, so I guess it depends on what kind of performance you want out of your computer.

Does the whole 12.5% back actually work through live.com? How do I get this money back?

I don't lug my IdeaPad around much but it really doesn't feel all that heavy when I pick it up. Maybe I'm just strong :p but for a notebook of it's size it and weight it doesn't seem as heavy as it should. I have an Inspiron 6000 that is about the same weight and it "feels" heavier to carry around. I'm generally happy with the Y510 though.
