I need some advice on where I should get an X200.
I can get a decent one through the CPP program for about $1200, or should I get one off ebay for about the same price after ebay cashback. The one on ebay has better specs, and includes a 3 year warranty, but there is no Windows 7 upgrade available.
I'm am kindy iffy about getting a new laptop off ebay, not sure if Lenovo will honor the warranty or not.Should I just wait and hope there is a back to school sale in August?
Thanks![]()

if you go the ebay route, just watch your back. Get full specs of everything on the machine, go a full list of everything in the box, get detailed description of the condition, confirm nothing has been replaced, and if possible have the vendor give you the model number and serial number so you can do a warranty lookup (or have them do a warranty lookup for you).
Lenovo warranties are generally transferable (they go with the serial number, not the registered owner) but some things will void a warranty, from the machine being reported as stolen to the replacement of non-FRU parts.
Personally I'd wait for another Lenovo sale... there will probably be one towards the end of this month. Or get an X200 from the Lenovo Outlet. For the sake of saving about 10%, ebay's just not worth it IMO. -
I'm also considering an X200. I'm very close to purchasing one now, but everyone talks of these upcoming sales. I think I'll wait it out and see what happens by mid August.

I would wait for a newer model ... I had a look at the X200 and was not impressed with it ... too bulky too big, not a nice screen. The X61s is so muc nice but OK gets a tad warm ...the X200 is very cool. But again I prefer the bigger letters on the X61s for work at least. If you don't have to READ a lot then by all means get an X200s with the miniscule 1440 x 900 ... if your eyes can take it. At least Lenovo still has matte screens ...that high a resolution on a glare screen OUCH ! I would also say that if Dell 4200 refreshed to a model with a webcam ...it would be worth a closer look ... very light machine, OK keyboard. I am expecting better of Lenovo ...

The x200 isn't getting a major refresh anytime soon...

I don't think they'll get an upgrade soon (but it would be great if they did).

remains to be seen ... with business and economy collapsing .... well I doubg their sales will go up in the next few years so they may have to consolidate LOL
