Hey guys, I have an HP HDX16 atm (which is awesome - I just can't stand the glossy screen). I was told Lenovo's use matte screens so I've been looking at the T400, however after browsing the first two pages of this forums there seems to be lots of complaints about Lenovo's service and QC. I know it can appear skewed because the people who have problems will complain while the people without usually don't praise, but it seemed like quite a bit of negativity here.

I guess I'm wondering if there is anyone who is very happy with his T400?
    My issures are
    1) Keyboard flex.. I'm used to my HDX16 or dv5t, which to me, don't seem to have much flex. Are the cases of flex being exaggerated because everyone is used to such rock solid keyboards? So how bad is the keyboard flex really?
    2) I see two threads, one complaining about palm rest and one complaining about a bulge.. it seems like heaps of people are having these problems but considering it absolutely acceptable QC.. is this what I should expect with my new T400? Makes me a bit scared lol
    3) Most importantly, whats Lenovo's return policy like? Are they pretty good about returns? How long do they give? HP has an awesome return policy, you have 21 days to decide you don't want it, and they'll pay for shipping back. Is it easy to return things to Lenovo?

    I'd really appreciate any answers,

    Cheers
    Dave

    1) keyboard flex is not as much as any person new to Lenovo would notice. I mean you would have a hard time even finding it.
    2) Palm rest is fine unless you like to run fragmented 50% full hard drives.....Understand that overtime everything gets hot with use, so don't expect comfort on any laptop after 8 hours.
    3) lenovo does have something like that, but you would be spending a lot of money shipping back and forth, on the other hand, i believe they'll waive the re-stocking fee if you are dis-satisfied withing a certain amount of period...but I'm not sure.

T400 keyboard is much better than HP. I don't have the flex issue (I think it is way overblown). Same for the "bulge"; I don't have it. And the hard drive runs cool. Used to have HP, but love T400.

i have no keyboard flex, and a tiny bulge between the thinkvantage and power button. the bulge is no big whoop and doesn't bother me. i could probably fix it, but i honestly didn't even notice it until i had the laptop for like 2 weeks, so i think i will just leave it alone. my T400 rules.

    I'm having the same concerns!

I've ordered a fully loaded T400 ($1300 CAN - It should arrive Monday) but all this talk about the palm rest and bulge have me very worried. Maybe I would have been better served buying a $500 HP from Best Buy. The bulge and palm rest are clear QC issues. I can only hope that mine doesn't arrive in this condition. I would definitely demand a refund and you can bet I won't pay to have it shipped back.

First of all, never buy anything from Worst Buy. They overcharge on everytihng and their customer service is nothing short of horrendous.

Second, I bought an HP dv9700t a year ago, and I've had a ton of hardware problems with it. I ordered a T400 to replace it, and I'm sure it will be a lot better than the HP. While there are some complaints here about Lenovo, they are a lot better than HP could ever hope to be.

the bulge is a non-issue. it is very small, and is not a valid reason to return a kick *** laptop imho. these forums overblow every tiny little defect of every machine. your T400 will probably be just fine. :) no, it will most likely be awesome.

Thanks guys, your comments somewhat ease the mind. My only problem is that I'm ULTRA picky/anal, especially when dishing out that kind of money. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
