Hi everyone, I am planning on purchasing the X61 notebook from Lenovo taking advantage of visaperks.ca, but I am not sure how it works, and I also have a few questions regarding the laptop.
Firstly, how do I use visaperks exactly? From my understanding, I just go to visaperks.ca, select lenovo as the vendor, and click on the link, which takes me to http://caipsgws001.can.ibm.com/store/home?aud=EA1VISA&target=home
Next, I just select whichever laptop i would like to buy and do all the standard stuff? (i.e. selecting extra components, add to cart, checkout etc.)
Okay, I also have a few questions about the laptop itself.
Firstly, the X61 does not have any cd-dvd drives on the laptop right? Does it come with some sort of extra component that is not attached to the latop that serves as the optical drive? If that's the case, does it come with the laptop or do I have to select it from the extra components?
Okay 1 more question...
In this link: http://caipsgws001.can.ibm.com/store/home?aud=EA1VISA&target=home
I would like to buy the 65U model. Towards the end, it says: Select with Windows XP Professional Operating System, Bluetooth and Fingerprint Reader for the same price.
Isn't this a lot better than Vista Business? Why is this the same price, but does not contain the fingerprint reader + bluetooth?
Okay hope I am not asking too many questions![]()
THanks

For visperks first go to www.lenovo.com/ca and find the model number you want. For example the 767658U for $1,699CAD.
Then go to www.visaperks.ca. Use the "Search by Merchant" drop down and choose Lenvo > Online Shop Now > Enter 767658U into the search box at the top of the page and you will see the price is now $1,599CAD. (5.88% off) The discount varies by model.
You can add other options from there and proceed to checkout. -
But that's a really low discount relative to the ones I found at http://caipsgws001.can.ibm.com/store...SA&target=home
The discount in that website go up to $300... -
As for your XP vs Vista question. There are 3 models available on the X61 page. A Vista and XP model with no bluetooth and no fingerprint reader for the same price plus an XP option with bluetooth and fingerprint reader for $50 more.
Vista Business is supposed to be equivalent to XP Professional but it lacks several features found in XP Pro. I would still recommend Vista over XP to most people since Vista will be better supported in the future. -
For external cd-rom support you can either purchase an external cd drive or get the ultrabase which is the docking station for the x61. The ultrabase has a bay for cd drive.
Thinking of purchasing the X61 thru Visaperks
