    Hi all,

a quick question: do all X220 (with webcam) come with the ThinkLight (little light that illuminates the keyboard from above)? Does the tablet also get it?

    Thanks

I can't speak to the tablets, but the x220 with webcam does have the Thinklight. Mine's on right now. :)

Yes, the X220 has a ThinkLight. No, I believe no X-series tablets have ever had the ThinkLight. I'm not sure if the X220t has it, though--my bet is no.

I almost sure that there is no Thinklight in the tablet version of X220.

Thanks to all for your replies! I guess the tablet doesn't need the thinklight because of the virtual keyboard on the screen. But it's nice to know that all regular X220 with webcam will get the light!

Sweetness, I mean the IPS is nice, but the thinklight is the MAIN reason I got this thing. I will use the keyboard to put a book on and the thinklight to read it. :)

Yeah that's at least something that any other laptop with backlit keyboard cannot achieve :)

except that its so dim, you'll ruin your eyes reading for any extended period of time on that, and the fact it barely lights the keyboard. the screen does a better job of lighting the keyboard--and whatever document/book you want to refer to.

if you use the screen at minimum brightness in the dark, the thinklight does help a bit, but anything more than that, the fact your eyes take time to adjust from the bright screen to the dim keyboard make it practically useless. certainly useless compared to a backlit keyboard. i have both, and i work a lot in the dark-frequent long haul flights (12 hour) and in bed after the girlfriend has slept...

backlit keyboard is one thing i miss dearly when im using the X201 instead of my precision

you could have got any other notebook and a $3 USB LED reading lamp off ebay/amazon. they work far better than the thinklight.

what afhstingray said,or you can string some optical fibers and add a DIY backlit keyboard.
