the title is the name of the wireless card i currently have in my thinkpad t400. it is having compatibility problems; would it be possible to replace it? i opened up my computer and actually took out this card to get a better look at it, but i am not sure what the form factor is or what type of slot it goes into. the card is very small...roughly 30 mm wide to 27 mm long. it has two cables connected to it. one cable is white and plugs into a hole called "main". the other cable is black and plugs into a hole called "aux".

so, i'm wondering whether anyone can tell me what form factor this card is (searching for "mini pci express" doesn't seem to bring up the right size) and whether i can replace it with a card that is more compatible. i know some things such as graphics cards are not replacable. how about this particular wireless card/chip/whatever it's called? thanks!

What problems are you having? Perhaps there's something else afoot. I'm not sure in the T400's case, but Lenovo often whitelists cards, meaning you can use cards on the list in the BIOS. Often you have to buy them from Lenovo, which makes them expensive. Generics of the same card won't work.

the problem i'm having is that this card, which is made by atheros has problems connecting to my company's wpa/wpa2 network. it fails authentication when i try to connect, and i was told that atheros is one of the brands that typically have trouble connecting to this network. i looked around for a different driver, but honestly the one i'm using is the latest version that lenovo has on their site, and atheros.com doesn't seem to have drivers either (unless i didn't know where to look on their site). i have an open expresscard slot if that helps, but i'm not sure if there are any good wireless adapters for expresscard slots, so i figured my best bet was to replace this atheros mini pci-e (thanks mtkc!) and put in something else. based on what ZaZ just said though, this idea is beginning to look pretty bleak. what do you all think about this?
