I am putting it here because it looks like the 11e is the successor to the x1xxe series, which is in this subsection.
It looks like the original expectation were true: no trackpoint. It looks like the users guessed the correct reason: students are vandalizing the trackpoint. If I assume the feedback on the clickpad from of the clickpad for the T/Xx40 Thinkpads are not exaggerating, then the loss of the trackpoint is not a big deal, as the clickpad made the trackpoint rather useless.
The Yoga model has a glossy gorilla glass display. And based on the pictures ( First look: Lenovo Thinkpad 11e Chromebook (and Yoga tablet) - Liliputing), it looks like there was no attempt to give it an antiglare coating at all. The line that mentioned the gorilla glass did not restrict it to the Yoga models, but I'm hoping that the gorilla glass is not on the clamshell models, as I was hoping the 11e would be one of one model of 11" ultraportables in USA that has a matte screen.
What do you think of the 11e?

Years ago, I abandoned any notion of specific hardware expectations with respect to Thinkpads when the Edge line came on the heels of the SL line.
I see 2 possibilities with the trackpoint:
1. The clickpad is serviceable as a clicker for the trackpoint, in which case all the comments about the clickpad making the trackpoint unusable on the other Thinkpads should be taken as gross hyperboles.
2. The clickpad is not serviceable as a clicker for the trackpoint, in which case the removal of the trackpoint from the 11e does not affect the usefulness of its pointer options compared to the other current generation Thinkpads.
As for me, the 11e is interesting because I am looking for a small, light, long-battery life laptop with a matte screen and a non-Realtek wifi card, though I am not sure if the 11e actually meets the last two criteria.
