    DISCOUNTS/SPECIAL PRICING
    for ThinkPads T61, R61, and X61

    Discount Programs

    1. Education Purchase Program (5%)
If your school isn't listed, you can select the generic "Students & Alumni" section in the drop down box. You'd better be a student or alumni though.

    2. IBM Shareholder Purchase Program (5%)

    3. FatWallet Cash Back (% varies)
FatWallet account required and signup is free. To take advantage of the Cash Back offer, click the “Cash Back Available” link in the top right hand box. A Cash Back tracker will appear to confirm the time you activated FatWallet. Proceed as normal in Lenovo’s site to purchase the laptop. Make sure to not leave Lenovo’s server at any time or enter a new URL in your browser. If necessary, use Lenovo’s search function to link you to the SPP or EPP website. After purchase, FatWallet will notify in the next few business days of your pending cash back. FatWallet Cash Back will only stay intact if your configuration is unchanged. FatWallet is awarded based on the day of order in 6-8 weeks.

    4. Visa Perks (United States) (Canada) (5%)
Visa Perks is not stackable with Lenovo SPP, EPP, or Education discount programs.

For Educational Discount, also take a look at the Higher Education category. If you qualify, this portal offers lower base prices, more upgrade options, better prices on upgrades, and a standard 3yr warranty as the base. This is how I configured and it was the lowest price I could find.

I am kind of critical to Lenovo’s promotion. I would suggest everyone to keep copies of all papers related to the purchase. When I bought my T61 using a 10% off ecoupon, everything was fine. However, after three days, the order status changed and the price increased because the order status was not taking into account the ecoupon anymore. And the worst was that Lenovo charged my credit card the difference without even ask an authorization. Thank god I had copies of my original purchase to prove that I had used the ecoupon. Even so, it took bloody annoying weeks to solve such a simple issue through emails and telephones. Serious, their costumer service is really frustrating.
