According to this, it's single link. Can you not use the display port?

if you need dual link dvi, then you would need to get active displayport to dual link dvi adapter, which can support the WQXGA resolution. Dell sells them for around 100 USD, Lenovo uses only passive dp to dvi port, which only supports WUXGA.

This is the review I'm referring to:

"I won't go over what others have already said regarding the port options for the Series 3 Mini Dock except to say that it has all the connectivity I generally need and still allows use of the ports that are native to the laptop. One area that I would caution on is the DisplayPort interface. I have a Lenovo T410S and a Dell 3007 WFP (30" display - 2560x1600 native resolution). While the graphics chipset in my laptop is fully capable of driving this resolution, it can only do so through the DisplayPort connector on the laptop. Connecting through the DisplayPort adapter on the Series 3 Mini Dock results in graphics driver crashes, black screens and a maximum display resolution of 12800x800 in Windows 7 Enterprise. The 1280x800 resolution limit is likely due to the lack of a hardware graphics scaler in the monitor, other monitors may achieve higher resolutions but will not reach 2560x1600. I am still using the Mini Dock but have to manually connect the DisplayPort cable directly to the laptop to achive a 2560x1600 display resolution on the Dell."

I hope I don't have problem. I'm planning to connect to a Dell U2711 using displayport.

The person got the 1280x800 resolution most likely as the result of using single link dvi cable. Also the u2711 monitor can accept displayport input.

Yes. Looking at the specs, if I use a displayport cable, will my resolution be limited to 1920x1200?

"Two DisplayPort monitor supporting 2560 x 1600 resolution
    * Supports attachment (compatibility varies by ThinkPad system) of DisplayPort monitor cables; Using DisplayPort monitor cables reduces resolution to 1920 x 1200
    "

EDIT: I figured it out. The resolution is limited only if I use a Lenovo DisplayPort monitor cable, aka adapter.
