Yes, sadly indeed AMD still needs to get the hang of making mobile CPUs.

But I don't really know what to make of this [from the zdnet review]:
I thought there were matte screens or glossy screens, being glossy and anti-glare seems a bit contradictory. Please enlighten me.

That has to be a typo. It says right after your quote that it is difficult to use next to a light source. I would assume they have a glossy screen, as matte screens do a great job handling light reflections.

On the Lenovo UK site, all of the Edge 11's are Glossy screens.

Some glossy screens do have an anti-glare coating that reduces reflections while preserving the color contrast advantage of the panel. See the Sony Vaio Z, for example.

Also, last I checked, the Edge 11 is not coming to the US, unfortunately :(

@AboutThreeFitty: True, but still not conclusive. Have a look at this pdf: https://mediaserver.digitec.ch/dokumente/203119.pdf
Sorry for it being in german; Nevertheless on the last page, the last row of the spec table says:

The part in braces roughly translates to "glossy or with AntiGlare".

I would still prefer my x100e if the Edge 11 had a glossy screen, thats for sure

I don't like the silver stripe along the side. It screams Dell circa 2005. I think the X100e is a much better looking product. That with a CULV CPU is a winner, but they probably don't want to get too close to the X201i price wise. A low cost ultraportable like the X100e probably gets them sales from people who were never going to spend the money for a X201i. A X100e with a CULV probably takes away sales from the X201 since mobile users don't usually need much performance.

As was mentioned since this probably isn't coming to the US you probably won't see a NBR review.

I have the EDGE 11,6" with the I3 380UM processor, and I've had for about two weeks. It's a nice little machine but quiete heavy for a 11,6" computer. The only minor problems I've had is the scrolling with the touchpad, thats a little tricky, and then there is a known problem with the touchpad freezing after the computer has been to sleep, but there seems to be two different work arounds for that problem. Other than that it's a great little computer, with plenty of power, I even use it from time to time for Lightroom, and I love that I can use the same power supplies as to my other Thinkpads, and it's pretty nice with the built in 3G modem.

What kind of webcam is installed? Lenovo is not making it easy for customers. I checked two Edge 13"s, both with i3 380UM CPU. The only differences I found were 2 vs 4 GB RAM and the size of HDD. The confusing part was the webcam info...the one with 4GB had 2MP while it was impossible to find info for the weaker model.

So, you think it works fine for Lightroom? I only surf, send emails and edit in Lightroom or Paint Shop Pro, so if this works just fine for you performance-wise then I will consider it.

What lid color did you choose ?

    Kind regards
    .lars

    Hello Lars

I really don't know which webcamerea it is, the only thing I can see about it in the properties is that it's made by Silicon Motion, and nothing else.

It's actually impressed me a lot in Lightroom, my usual machine for Lightroom is a W510 with a I7-820 processor and 8 gb of ram, and yes the Edge is not as fast, but it is certainly no slouch even with 30 Mb Raw files, I was really impressed. So for the occationel Paint Shop Pro I wouldn't worry one bit about performance.

I chose the black matte color lid.

Jesper, how does the display perform when using it outside or on the train etc? Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thanks for the info. I think you find the MP simply by using an application that utilizes webcam. If you can choose 1600 x 1200 resolution there, then you have a 2MP webcam. Doesn't Lenovo include a web-cam application ?

    Kind regards

elling: I only tried using it outside once, and since it's winther and there hasn't been much sunshine lately I would'nt give a definitive answer about the possibility to use it outside, but the one time I tried it is was ok, of course it's a glossy panel, and there is some reflection, but it was still ok

Lars: I only have Messenger and Skype installed which uses the webcamera, and with them I can't choose the resolution, the Lenovo programs I don't use I've uninstalled, sorry.

Auch, that's is pretty low, I never use the webcam though, but I can definitly see it as a problem for somebody who does.
