Hi all, appreciate any help. I see there are now two versions of the Thinkpad Edge laptops, one with the Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core L325 and the Intel SU version.

Has anyone reviewed or know of the AMD version? How does the battery life, heat and HD video performance compare to the Intel CULV version?

I am interested in the AMD version as the price difference between the two is quite big.

Any help appreciated. Many thanks. I have tried to search but nothing is coming up.

For basic usage I think either will be fine. I haven't seen either, but generally, AMD based machines run hotter and offer less battery life. I've heard here the newer AMD CPUs run cooler, but Lenovo hasn't offered them yet. AMD has better GPUs than Intel based systems, which should lead to better HD playback, but even Intel cards can help decode HD.

i would go with the CULV on the current generation Edge laptops, the AMD CPU run slightly hotter than normal Penryn and CULV Intel CPU, and if you use it on the lap, it can get uncomfortable after a while.

Many thanks to both. The price difference is over US$150 which I think is a pretty big difference...need to think about this more. Thanks again.
