I took the plunge a month or so ago and purchased a Thinkpad Edge 14 despite the majority vote...I've never owned a Thinkpad so I am not familiar with the integrity of the traditional Thinkpad's however I've always heard nothing but good...I know the Edge falls into a separate category many have classified as not a Thinkpad...My issue is in regards to my video/graphics chipset and/or drivers...On occasion at least once or twice a day my screen will suddenly dim to it's lowest setting then back to bright...I can manually adjust the brightness but it never reaches the brightness level I was at until it is done it's crazy dim-to-bright cycle...My other issue is on startup...Sometimes when I start up the machine I log in to Windows 7 and my desktop never appears, I have to power down and reboot, then all works well...

Has anyone who has a Thinkpad Edge also encountered these problems? If, so do you know of a solution?
