Hello my girlfriend's new computer arrived. When I run task manager I noticed there are 93 processes running. Now I have no experience with Windows 7 64 bit but this seems outrageous. What programs can I remove and what should I keep?

This model only has 2gb of ram at the moment so I know it would run much smoother to disable / remove some of these processes. I don't have a clue what to remove!

    Thanks in advance!

Outrageous? Everyone's going to answer that differently. There may be some things I like you deem superfluous. Probably your best course of action would be to figure out what they are via google and dump anything you don't want.

MSCONFIG, services.msc, common sense and logic.

Some of the WinDVD or Roxio stuff have services for whatever reason.

best bet is to go into services and look at the description of each service. If you are in doubt you can set them to manual. This lets them run only when they're needed. (essentially)
you can also use msconfig and hide system services so you only deal with nonessential stuff.

I'm not sure if this laptop itself has an issue or not but it is not real responsive at all. Just clicking the Lenovo Power manager takes 30+ seconds to load. Opening new tabs in internet explorer is not quick like I'd expect from an i3 390m processor, this thing shouldn't struggle at all with light use.

    Here is the link to this model Newegg.com - ThinkPad Edge 0578N8U Notebook Intel Core i3 390M(2.66GHz) 14" 2GB Memory DDR3 1066 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW Intel HD Graphics
Is it so slow because of only having 2 gb's of ram? I know more RAM will help but how do I know if the computer itself has an issue? How much RAM will this model support and what type should I buy?

Sorry for the newbie questions, but I don't know if it's a processor or RAM issue.

    Thanks!
