The only thing good here is the red nipple ha ha for such a low price. No other manufacturer has a laptop with a trackpoint for around 500 dollars. I believe lenovo is trying to tap that market. Once you use the nipple you are never going to go back to the trackpad. The other thing I believe the material used in x100e and edge will not be magnesium alloy and will be restricted to plastic to arrive at that cost. Thats my 2 cents.

I'll admit I'm something of a purist on these matters, but I'm not offended by the gloss black or the AMD chip (how big of me)... but chiclet keyboard?? This is where I must draw the line. If this horrifying stuff of nightmares ever migrates to the T-series, or the higher X-series, laptops are all officially crap.

Lenovo did their segmentation research on small business users, you know, interviews and attaching them to brainwave machines to see how they react to different design features on laptops. Turns out the average small business buyer does prefer shiny lids, glossy screens, a few lights, chiclet keyboards, and web cams. That's because small business buyers often tend to use their work machine as an everyday use machine and therefore are attracted by a bit of design flair. Price matters a lot too, has to be $800 or under for an average SMB buyer. I don't fault Lenovo for doing their market research and altering their product based on that research. They're not the tail wagging the dog.

And just because they're coming out with these new machines doesn't mean they're going to mess with the regular ThinkPads like the X or the T. More choice is a good thing.

We'll see when it shows up. I think the model is going to get lost in an already crowded sub $1000 market.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that, but it could mean that they're testing the waters to see how far they can go without a total backlash.

I'm hoping they put the NavDial back on the X200Tablet.

this is to take the position that SL300 has left off, which is not in the new SL range.

And this laptop was actually shown few weeks back on some Chinese website, which one of the forum members has linked us too. I thought initially this was just a spoof by someone, but now with this new insight, i guess the leaked images were real.
