I recently got a Thinkpad Edge and I can actually see the individual pixels on the screen. Its most apparent on white backgrounds. It looks like tiny empty boxes with a dark outline. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this just a common issue with low resolution screens now a days?

It has always been an issue with low resolution screens I am afraid. Specially on laptops where you stand close to the screen.

For Edge, afaik, they only offer the same resolution for all screen size, which is only base-HD or 1366 X 768. I think the ideal size for it is 13 inch model, or Edge 13. Can stretch a bit to 14 inch, but that is the maximum.
In my opinion, Edge 15 HD will suffer from grainess of the pixelated screen. The ideal resolution for 15 inch is at least 1600 X 900 and not 1366 X 768.

For my taste, higher resolution screen is much more important than processor specs for instance. Others might see it differently.
