Is the light thing that illuminates the keyboard on the 14 incher?
-
its on my 14 wide. shines down from just to the left of the top middle of the screen
-
I know it's on the 14.1 widescreen model, I think it's on the standard screen version too.
-
All ThinkPads to my knowledge have ThinkLight.
Dell's ATG All Terrain Grade laptops have a orange light, while we get the white ones -
Yes but it is now basically useless as it only illuminates the keyboard well at one specific screen angle. If the keyboard is positioned at a slightly different angle there keyboard is dark even though the light is on.
-
Well, for my T60 the ThinkLight works just fine for me. I've used it while on a couple of flights, and it is very bright - lights up the keyboard and the surrounding areas without being blinding to annoy the passenger next to me.
-
cool. thanks.

This is one of those little things that makes a really big difference.. A little light that shines down on your keyboard for the ThinkPad, vs a backlit keyboard for the MacBook Pro.
And yes, I know ThinkPads are designed to be more rugged and have the sealed keyboards with drain holes etc.etc.etc., but I'm sure it would be fairly easy to implement without compromising this ruggedness, but would add a whole lot to the usability of the laptop. -
Yeah, the ThinkLight is useless. My screen is brighter and drowns it out.

i actually find the thinklight really useful in pitch black conditions...it works....i think the best solution to make it better would be to coat the letters with some type of fluorescent and make it a blacklight instead, this way the kb would be illuminated such as macbook pros
Thinkpad KB light on T61 14.1?
