You might want to check out the E6410, which has a display port, that's if you're not married to the stick. Those aren't near as good on Dells.

but e6410 is way more expensive.
the $679 version has i3 processor and only 1Gb of ram

But isnt the build quality of thinkpads way higher than a dell studio 14?

Unless you're running the CPU at or near 100% capacity frequently, I doubt the i5 makes much of a difference. You can upgrade to the i5 and WXGA+ LCD, and still be under $800. The 1GB of memory is good because Dell way overcharges for upgrades. You could hit the Dell Outlet to where from time to time some savings can be had.

    I am currently in USA.

I want an upto date laptop (14" screen) which will last 4 years. and under $900.

I want to buy a lenovo notebook since it is once of the best brands of 2010( Best & Worst Laptop Brands 2010: Scores By Brand)

So, do you think buying Thinkpad edge 14 would be a good choice( i dont game, only watch HD youtube videos)?

I told you what I thought, but you didn't like my idea. Also no bumps for 24 hours, as per the forum rules.

get a T400 or R400 from outlet.lenovo.com, this should bring your purchase within your budget, i wouldn't get the L or Edge.

The intel 4500 MHD and Penryn CPU should be more than enough for hardware decoding of the FHD movies.

There's no HDMI on the T or R, which is why the e6410 seems like a good fit, but what do I know?

Actually, according to specs and video reviews, Thinkpad Edge 14 does have HDMI.

well it is arguable whether an Edge is really a Thinkpad, or just a consumer laptop that carries a Thinkpad name.

I have just compared them in real life. The L412 is more rugged IMO, but the Edge's build quality is still good. I notice that you get comments about not buying the L and Edge. I have no idea why anyone would post such a comment.

After reading several threads it seems like some members on this forum are overly religious about the T and X series. I seriously doubt that most people actually need that extreme ruggedness. When comparing the L and Edge series to other brands I found only 1 model (out of approx 20) that could match the L412......and that was the Asus B43.

Perhaps you want to read more about it in this thread:

    Kind regards
