    Hi,

With my T410 I choose to get a Mini Dock Plus Series 3 dock. This is my first Thinkpad dock although Imy 3rd Thinkpad.

    I have a few questions:

    - Is it safe to just place the laptop onto the dock when it is already powered on?
    - When I sit it on it, the USB connects, the VGA works (extended desktop) and the laptop is powered, but for some reason the audio does not come out of the side jack. What am I doing wrong? I did clean install Windows 7 again so is there some kind of specific driver I need to make this work?
    - Can I just lift the laptop off when powered (I assume using the push button on the left)

    Thanks!

1.- Yes, the latest Thinkpad dock is plug-and-play, because the legacy ports have been removed. You can dock/undock it without powering off.
    2.- Not sure.
3.- Yes, you can, for the same reason as #1.

you may have to manually switch it under sound in your control panel. Try reinstalling your sound driver.

I looked at the sound driver but it only thought that one port was connected - you know how they detect whether a device is plugged in or not these days.

Only the speakers were selectable as an output despite there being speakers plugged into the 3.5 jack on the dock.

I will try seeing if the Windows Update installed audio driver is different to the one on the Lenovo site.
