I'm considering replacing my T60 with a new Thinkpad.

Is the SuperBright Outdoor WXGA LED Panel with Wide viewing Angle on the x201Tablet that much better than the display(s) available on the T510?

I know the x201T and T510 are apples and oranges, but I like the huge screen, but hate lugging the T60 (I've got a widescreen one), so that's why I'm considering the x series. The x201T is about 2x ($1500!!!!) more than the T510, is it worth it?!?!?

What's the max RAM of each?

I work primarily on spreadsheets and occassionally on long Word documents.

    Thanks!

Screen quality? Yes, it's THAT much better. All you can get on T510 is TN panels, and you have FFS/IPS/PVA on X201T. Any of these are miles better than the TN panels on any other Thinkpads.

I don't know why people keep asking about what's the maximum amount of ram they can install on their Thinkpads. It's been many generations since Thinkpads have been able to handle 8GB of memory.

Technically I'm not sure if they can handle more than 8GB, but I don't see who needs more than 8GB on a laptop. If you really need to handle that big a data set, you're probably better off working on a desktop with more powerful CPUs anyway (Lately I've been working on a dataset with 18 million observations. Being able to load the dataset is one thing. Having enough CPU power to do statistical inference with it quickly is another thing). Not to mention that the cost of getting more than 8GB RAM on laptop can easily buy you another Thinkpad.

4GB is more than enough for spreadsheets and word documents, not to mention that Office 2007 is still a 32-bit software.

    Thanks for the reply!

Any chance of that any of the T series will have the SuperBright Outdoor displays in the next month or so?

all lenovo systems are LED.   CCFL is no longer an option.
