I am new to thinkpad. My previous system was Compaq and i did not use any of the apps provided by the manufacturers and now I am just lost due to all the apps. Plus this the first time I am using Windows 7. Till now i was using Win Xp SP2. This is too much of a change for me.
Would like to know more about all the apps in my laptop, which is useful & which is not. Some tweaks.
Pls guide me.

On my ThinkPad T500 running Windows 7, there are only a handful of ThinkVantage apps that I use.
Fingerprint for logon
System Update to stay up-to-date with drivers
Power Manager (although I find it doesn't always work as I intend it to)
Access Connections (only because I roam between many different networks)
I think most people with Windows 7 could actually live happily without any of these apps. I do, however, recommend using System Update once in a while.
Hope it helps.

On my R400 running Windows 7, I use:
Power Manager
System Update
ThinkVantage Tool Box (this is for system diagnostics, which I have found useful. I use it on a monthly basis, though I have it set to give me notifications, if any).
I don't use Access Connections, though I have considered it, but found that Win 7's in-built wireless manager does an adequate job as per my current needs.
I should also mention that since my machine came without an OS, I clean installed a Retail version of Win 7 Pro (64-bit) that I bought.
Cheers!
