hey guys so I did check the sticky and stuff but didn't see any info on good places to actually purchase the parts I need.

My T60 fan makes this awful buzzing sound so I started looking up what part I need (part 41W6409)... started looking on the net but there seems to be a lot of Chinese knockoffs or used parts. Do you guys happen to know of a good place to grab the part i need, maybe at a decent price too :p

other then the fan my T60 is going strong almost 4 years and counting!

My fan blew out last week ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/593722-t60p-gpu-burned-out.html#post7692433

I bought a refurbished replacement off ebay for $40 that appears to be a perfect fit. The seller had 10,000+ positive comments, and I was happy with the process (part arrived in 4 days).

It didn't solve my problem, but honestly, after what happened to me, I wouldn't wait. The swap out process requires a little willingness to gut your machine (it took me an hour and about 20 tiny screws), but it's not outlandish. Lenovo has good documentation on how to perform the process.

Bleh didn't want to get used parts but i guess on a laptop this old it doesn't really matter... I had to send the computer into Lenovo a few weeks before the warranty was up last year to get this issue fixed. Wouldn't be surprised if they used a refurb part and here i am a year later trying to get it fixed.

I would call Lenovo. Even though you are out of warranty, if their original fix for the exact same problem failed, you can argue they failed to fix it under warranty (a fan shouldn't fail in a year).

any parts they use for repair is only covered by another extra 3 months warranty of warranty (if your main warranty has ended). The OP is not going to get a free fan replacement after 1 year from the warranty expiry date.

The OP can however try to clean the fan vanes and the motor, then re-oil the fan motor's spindle with high quality sewing machine oil or graphite based lubricant.

So got a replacement fan of ebay for about $40 (refurbished) and installed it today... was a little scary but got it done ok (hard part is remember where all the screws go!). those Lenovo videos from the sticky link where a big help though showing me how to take stuff apart and replace the CPU fan.
