How does one get a T43 for a price comparable to other high-quality laptops? Take, for example, the ASUS W3V - pretty good build and keyboard, slightly better specs, and cheaper to boot.

I know that Lenovo US has the Manager's Picks section with AMAZING prices and discounts. But I'm in Canada... :(

So, how does one go about getting a well-priced (new) T43? Do I just have to wait until a good sale? Or if I'm really strapped for cash, perhaps I should just go with the cheaper ASUS laptops?

I know Lenovo Canada did have a three-day sale a week or so back, but it was too short notice for me. Is this a common occurance, or are the Express models the best deal I'm going to get?

    Thanks in advance!

I wonder what would happen if you e-mailed that question to Lenovo Canada? Can't hurt to try.

Hope they come through for you.

My T43 is in transit from Hong Kong now. I almost ordered the Asus W3V, but the dead pixel reports scared me. I also read glowing reports about that little stick on the Thinkpads. ;-)

Asus are great notebooks especially if you want to game. The Express model are generally cheaper as they make a bunch and then sell them whereas the the CTO models are built to order.

I know eCost.com has some 3rd party shipping thing where they'll ship to Canada, they have decent prices on Express models. So browse around that website and see what there is and checkout their Canadian shipping policy.
