I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on what great service I got with IBM. I have an X60 that I bought almost three years ago.

Last week it died on me. I went right to my email to see when I actually bought the thing because I had the 3 year protection plan.

Sure enough I made it by 2 months! I called them up. Decided it needed a new motherboard/cpu.

So They overnight a box to me, everything ready for me to send it back even including the tape.

4 days later its back. Looking BRAND NEW!. They replaced the motherboard/cpu. Replaced the case because it was all cracked. Even replaced my Keyboard.

I bought my machine with a student (employee pricing sale) got the three year protection plan for like $130 bucks. They took care of me big time.

So for anyone thinking about the protection plan I highly recommend it!

Nice to hear a happy ending. It is really a good feeling to have a machine for 3 years and get all that replaced. Probably will last you another 3 :)

Wait is this regular warranty service? Or is it the accidental warranty plan?

ThinkPad Protection is the accidental policy.

if you fork out like 2000 dollars on some top end machines, then i don't think that extra 200 dollars a year for some extra warranty care is all that much.

I know some people whom drive 50,000 dollars car) and they don't even want to fork out 1000 dollars for premium car insurance (they said it is too expensive.... i then asked, is that why you bought a 50,000 dollars car... i obviously don't understand the logic behind that).... and then someone crash into them with a 500 dollars Mini Cooper (old one) whom also don't have insurance because they truly couldn't afford it.
