    Hi hadi,
The lithium-ion batteries used in notebooks have a lifetime of only 1.5 to 2 years or 250 to 300 charges whichever comes 1st, so it sounds like the battery is just worn out. You are right to not buy 3rd party batteries, especially after all the news stories lately of cell phones and such catching fire from them. I would shop around for an IBM battery, but don't buy it directly from IBM as they are too expensive. I've bought from computer giants before and they usually have pretty good prices. Here is the link to the R40 battery, they have it for $109 and it is IBM, if you can get by for awhile, they have sales on them once in awhile and the price goes down even more.
