This is probably a stupid question but I’m pretty hopeless when it comes to techie stuff. Just purchased my first laptop (Thinkpad R61) and am shopping around for an Internet provider (also for the first time). I don’t have a home phone line so that restricts me to a cable provider or stand-alone DSL (or so I’ve been told). I’m probably going with Comcast, but I can’t seem to figure out if I need to lease one of their modems or if what came with my Thinkpad is sufficient. I think the notebook has an integrated 56k modem, is this a cable modem or only for dialup?
Totally off-topic, but Lenovo is having a great sale right now! I thought I got a good deal on mine a couple of weeks ago, but had I waited I would have saved about $100 for the exact same configuration. Oh well.

The modem in the Thinkpad is only for 56k dial-up. You'll need a cable modem...
