I intend to add another 4GB RAM, Intel Msata SSD and replace the DVD_RW drive with a BD_RW drive when my W520 arrives here. The question is if I need to sent the Thinkpad for repair due to other reason (CPU or Graphic card or USB port failure) do I need to revert the Thinkpad to original specs or can I just sent in and they will honour and repair it accordingly without checking the overall NB?

Of course I am not referring to failure of those parts that I self-upgrade

Sorry my subject should be "Lenovo Repair Policy for modifed Thinkpads'

My first rule is "never send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem", so I'd be stripping all that out anyway.

My second rule is "if you send your hard drive to EasyServ, assume it will be wiped no matter who assures you otherwise".

It's not that I don't trust EasyServ. It's just that it's better to be safe than sorry.

i changed the title of this thread since you're referring to aftermarket parts, not modified thinkpads.   installing aftermarket memory or a storage drive isn't considered a modification.
