    Hello,

my Thinkpad SL510 is constantly freezing a few seconds to a minute after startup. I first thought it might be either a defective hard drive or memory. I took out the hard drive and booted from a Ubuntu live CD but the same problem occured. Then I bought new memory and replaced the old one, again with no luck (I tried both slots). Now I don't now how I could find out what exactly could be the problem. Funny thing is that I remember that I could check the hard drive and memory for any failures with an UBCD live disc without any problems, no freezes at all. Reinstalling the operating system of course does not work as the system freezes during setup. What else could be the cause this?

    Thanks for your help.

I never thought that my battery could be an issue as I always had it plugged to the wall. I will check that out.

Try running the system on AC adapter only, with no battery installed and report back.

    Good luck.

I tried that, but it did not work. What else could I try?
