Who here on the forum believes that the Thinkpad "Look" will change sometime in the near future?
I mean, Lenovo will eventually change the Iconic Look/Appearance of the Famous IBM Thinkpad!
Just looking at other Lenovo Notebooks, I see the upcoming change in the overall Appearance of the Thinkpad. I believe that the Thinkpad "wording" will eventully be the only resemblense of the Iconic IBM Thinkpad.

I don't think it will given the fiasco with the Z series boxes.
-
That would be just stupid.
-
It all depends on how much say IBM has, but the internal business model has already changed so it would not surprise me, both for the good and bad. As long as IBM internals continue to use the T series they will be of decent quality.
-
I don't believe they will change, but then again you never know what Lenovo will do to further separate themselves from the ibm look. Descent isn't a word that can sum up the t-series.
-
Man of course they'll change if they don't how are they suppose to keep up with the market. They can;t have the same design forever
-
Lenovo would be dumb to change it.

Hm. Why do I get the feeling that the advocates of change do so merely to antagonize those of us who actually like Thinkpads as they are ?
If you want a different notebook, go buy a different notebook. Its not like there's any shortage of choices. -
Take a look at the butterfly Thinkpad and now. Even the keyboard is still the same. And look at how many compliments people make about the Thinkpad. You wonder how they keep up, that's how they do. Business is not about the look, it's about what the laptop can do. One more thing to say, black is never old, because it was never new. If the quality of it never change, Thinkpad will never change.
-
Why would keeping up with the market have to justify for a change in the Thinkpad's original look? I believe most people really would prefer the all black casing, if Lenovo's changes that, I think they would lose buyers.
-
I love the classic look and feel of the thinkpad {=Bomber}. Although I might like to play games, I don't need my machine to look like a game. They would be crazy to dump there design philosophy.
-
Besides Thinkpad users are used to notice the small changes that mostly affect usability. See how people made a big fuss about the lines on the buttons for the trackpoint or the wider bezel on the left side of the screen.
If they do change things I think would be to try to improve usability or some other aspect that has a direct relation with it.
Besides what you get is a computer with a timeless design. I have an HP from two years ago and it looks dated, and I know the new ones will look dated in two years time too. -
totally agreed! also the Thinkpad red (Trackpint), they are perfect match. maybe it's appearance will changed a little bit. like the T61 is wide screen now, square touch pad... I reckon T61 is better designed. at least, all of my colleagues love it.
-
I don't think they will make a change anytime soon. I don't like their current trend away from thin and light in the T series. Notebooks need to be getting smaller and lighter not the opposite.
-
people love thinkpad because of their sleek, sturdy design...that's why people still buy them and get all worked up on looking for Lenovo promotions
-
I am a Fan of the original IBM Thinkpad Look! I believe that Lenovo must maintain the Classic-Iconic Look to preserve their Notebook marketshare!
Like you said there is not a shortage of difference brands out there! So, style has to be a key motivator for a Buying prevence!

It's already changed.
Widescreen T series? WTF?! -
It'll change size, and weight to some degree as technology allows, but overall shape will probably not change. It would be a horrible move marketing wise. Everyone knows the importance of branding like the slick white of apple products.
-
i hope lenovo won't change the looks of the thinkpad. sure, they went widescreen on the thinkpad, but overall, it's still the same sleek black power house that i love.
-
I had my T23 in school and while I was taking notes, one of the guys who always hangs out with the cool girls said "dude, sweet laptop". I responded with a corny smile and the thumbs up. He was shocked when he heard that I "only" spent $400 on it.
-
Don't think so.
Thinkpad Series Look will probably change!
