so it creates a big bulge on the bottom?
i thought it was supposed to be thin but the same width and length as the thinkpad

It doesn't create one, it is one. It's a wedge, or, well, a slice.

    That's what he said?

He's asking because most other (all to my knowledge) are the same size as the laptop and basically just make it thicker rather than adding a bulge.

Apologies, re-reading my post, I did come off curt.

Guess I'm not sure where the assumption that it was a plate-type battery came from. Even looking at the top-view pictures in the tabook, you can see it isn't laptop-sized and fastens to the dock adapter toward the rear.

Maybe it was clearer for me since I'm familiar with the slice batteries HP sells.

the wedge is okay since it actually elevates the back of the laptop, and actually creates a slight slope on the laptop, which makes the laptop more comfortable to type on.

No idea what "27++" means. Math doesn't work for the number of cells possible in any config, surely doesn't add 27 hours of life much less 27++ hours.

What is obvious, however, is that this battery is vasty superior to mere "27" models. I mean, it has two +'s in the name ;)

Not according to the product specs:
    Supports ThinkPad T410, T510, and W510 notebooks

I think it has to be removed. There is no pass-through for the dock connector.

weird question perhaps: most documentation mentions this in tandem with the 9 cell normal battery.

will it work in conjunction with the 6 cell?

HP and Dell have this kind of battery for a while.
My HP with an 8-Cell and a 12 Cell underneath gets around ~8 hours. That is with a 17'' and a Quadro Graphic card. The thinkpad is only 15.4'' for now and with an IGP Gpu it should get a lot more hours than that.

Nope. The 9-cell and shorter 6-cell are flat and thereby "shouldn't" interfere with the slice.

Only thing keeping me from saying "will" is that nobody has done this yet.

I've had a 6-cell on order since 1/11. It is on the same delivery schedule as my W510 which has the 9-cell. I'll know on 2/16

No, I'm fairly certain they connect through the new dock connector, which is only in the T400s, the Tx10 series, and the W510.

Thanks for the pictures - looks good. If you received your W510 already, what battery life are you getting with the slice?

Sorry for my misleading statement - meant to just say that the T400s, T410s, Tx10, and W510 all use the new docking connector, although all are not compatible with the slice.

Looking at the photos, there are two long grooves at the end to hug the 9-cell battery, plus plastic hooks left and right.

Considering that the t400s/t410s has no 9-cell and probably no holes for the hooks, the only way you can attach the slice battery is with duct tape.

On the plus side, the electrical connector seems to fit :D

I don't own a slice batt. but some of your answers are provided by lenovo. It's 93.24 additional wH, so if you have the 9 cell it should essentially double your power capacity, and more than double it if you're carrying around a 4 or 6 cell. It weighs 1.35 lbs, bringing a T410 with a 9 cell battery (5.35 lbs) + slice total weight to 6.7 lbs. It measures about 12 inches x 4 inches and adds 1.13 inches of thickness to the laptop.

I would like to hear of some usage experiences as well. Is it the same as the bay batteries where you have to use it entirely first and then switch to the internal?
