I am planning on buying this for my brother so he won't have to use my laptop for internet anymore. He is only going to use internet, maybe some word processing. I saw that this thing was $3,000+ five years ago. I read that this model is built particularly strong. My brother's a tough guy, so he needs a tough notebook. He also is obsessive about the eraser-head mouse. This seems to be the perfect fit for him, agree?

Personally if you are looking for something that old, look at the IBM refurbished product line. You will probably be able to get something a tad faster for the same price.

You might want to look at the T23 as it supports 1GB of memory rather than the 512MB max on the T22. You might be able to get it from eBay cheaper. T22/23 are very solid notebooks.

Thank you for your help :). I can only find off-lease T23s for $500. $400 is my limit. I don't do ebay.

I had a T23 a couple of years back for a work-assignment issued notebook. it was tough, I personally don't like it as much as current T40 notebooks but if you can find it or the T22 for cheapish then hey, go for it. Good luck.

I am a day away from ordering a T23 from ThinkPad Depot. They are an IBM Business partner and may I say reputable. I have emailed them a few detail questions and will be purchasing tomorrow.

    P.S. My brother is stoked!

My friend highly recommends thinkpad depot. If you are in DC area you can go there yourself and pick one out. I just ordered a refurbished X31 from https://www.eritech.com You might want to check them out as well.

Just Ordered! All questions were answered. One problem, I will need to contact IBM to get the Win2000 CD. What a hassle. The laptop I am ordering is licensed, so will a supplemetal Win2000 CD cost money from IBM?

I tried IBM and gave up on the endless connections. I guess I'll just use use a copy of the Win2000 CD from a friend. Is this legal?

If you have a Windows 2000 COA for the laptop it seems legal to me, but I'm no lawyer.
