Hey guys/gals. I've been a long time lurker around these parts, but thought I"d try to contribute today. I got my new Thinkpad T410 in a couple days ago and made some review videos that are up on YouTube if anyone is interested. Here there are:
Unboxing and Overview
T410 First Boot Out Of The Box
T410 Keyboard Removal, and What's Inside
T410 Powered USB Port Testing
T410 Out-Of-The-Box HD Video Playback
T410 LCD Viewing Angle Test
Hope this helps someone![]()

Thanks for posting.

I received my yesterday. There is a thin layer of dust on the LCD, and some dust and marks on the armrest. Disappointed.

Awesome work! It's always nice when that odd person gets their laptop and *doesn't* just disappear from the forums
These are very well done/comprehensive, for an amateur review. -
Thanks, I actually had quite a bit more fun making them than I expected. If anyone on these forums has any suggestions for further video review/investigation of the T410 just let me know and I'll see what I can do to make it happen.
I did end up formatting the hard drive and installing a clean version of Windows 7 on the HDD since I shot the initial videos. The crapware/thinkvantage stuff that came preloaded just started annoying me too much. So any software based requests would be slightly different from the out of box experience now. -

Overall, would you recommend purchasing the T410 for business usage and some occasional DVD's?
The configuration I am thinking of purchasing is very similar to your set-up. -
for business usage, it is one of the best 14-inch laptops you can buy
for watching dvds, though, it is going to have very poor performance there because of the low business-oriented screen quality -
Hi Phaxmohdem,
I'm just wondering how satisfied you are with your T410. I'm just about to buy me one of those, with the following features: Intel Core i7 620M 2.66 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD 7.200U/min, 14.1" LED WXGA+
And I do know that there will be no way to work with SG, but it doesn't matter to me that much, because I will work approx. 80% from home.
With regards to the fan, I will install tpfancontrol so I won't hear it, although the fan isn't that loud from what I heard from other users?!
So having the Notebook for a couple of days now, what would you say?! Would you recommend it?!
Cheers,

//0 Thanks for sharing. Videos are really informative, especially with HD video.
To be honest I'm a bit confused with HD video playback of 1080p. I thought Intel has brought HD video capabilities to it's integrated video cards...
Another strange thing there was that, even video card is not enough why CPU was loaded only at 60%?
I googled a bit and looks like core i5 should play 1080p w/o problems... am I missing something?
Here ( http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1169/14/) for example is mentioned a HD test with 1080p, no issues whatsoever...
Thanks. -
quicktime in windows doesn't accelerate anything.
A good test would be to properly configure mediaplayer home cinema to use the GPU and load a 1080p x.264 or bluray rip. -

Hi Jesper,
from what I know from other forums it is possible to use TPF with the i7 Chip!
That's one of the first things which I will do anyway when I get my T410... I already ordered it and can't wait to have it! ;-)
Cheers,

And you have something to look forward to it's a very nice notebook, and incredible fast, even compared with my T400 with a P8600 processor. -
So far, I would certainly recommend this laptop to others. Any minor quirks this unit may have are greatly overshadowed by its good points. -
-
Do you think you could make couple of more tests with HD video playback? It looks like it should work fine with 1080p.
PS: if you have time, of course. -
Hey Jesper,
how come your fan doesn't go on at 62 degrees? What where your settings?
I'm very positive that it will work with the i7, because I know two others who are already using it! Maybe you should use a different TPF-Software, I know that there many around and not all of them work the way they should.
Cheers,

It's pretty crazy the USB powered port doesn't work without a/c when completely shut down. So what's the purpose of this port in Lenovo thinking scheme? When I have the possibility of using the A/C adapter, the powered USB port is the last thing I need. When I am not, riding a train for example, it would be pretty useful to be able to charge my phone.
I am... surprised. Sometimes I think Lenovo do not think at all when designing some of their features.

After watching the video on the powered USB I am thinking the Belkin mini surge protector Dual USB Charger is a better option.

Thanks for the review, really appreciate it. Can you do the 1080p test again using a software that supports hardware acceleration. AFAIK Quicktime sucks @@@ at playing 1080p.

What are the fan rpm's at different levels?
