    Hey there fella's

I am looking at pulling the trigger on the T420 417876VU (for around $1250 and then having it shipped to me in Dubai,

    Lenovo's tabook says that the 41786vu has 14" HD+ WXGA+ (1600x900)

Where as on lenovo's Support page says WXGA 1366 x 768
IBM Personal computing support - ThinkPad T420 4178-6VU support

Couple of retailers (provantege.com / shopblt.com) say 1366x766 while others say such as CDW say 1600x900

CDW doesn't do international shipping :(

What is the actual spec? what is more relibale Lenovo's tabook or Lenovo's support page?

    Thanks for your help.

You can use the Product Information Lookup on Lenovo's Site. In this case it specifies that particular model has a 14" 1366x768 LCD screen.

It is actually grouped with 2 other models which all have the dedicated graphic cards and HD screen is not even an option. I tend to believe that tabook is correct...

I tend to agree with you. When is yours expected to arrive? If you don't mind me asking, how much you paid for yours?

While most of the time the tabook is correct it does occasionally have the minor mistake from time to time. I'm not saying it's wrong but you have to be a little weary of the small print printed near the end of the document which doesn't really help matters.
For your sake I hope it is as stated in the tabook. A phone call to Lenovo with some sort of reference of the rep to confirm the LCD spec shouldn't hurt.

If you find an error in the tabook, email Janet (bottom of the page):

    Personal Systems Reference (PSREF) sheets

If something on the support web site looks wrong, fill out the Site Feedback form (link on the left of each support page).

    They are normally quite responsive!

I just went to the Lenovo sales site, configured the T420 system with the 1600x900 screen a couple of weeks ago. Never used the support page for that information nor provantage/CDW etailers either. They miss the information one needs to know what the system has. Right to the source I say.

I wouldn't really trust a Lenovo Rep either. They could be wrong, as the Tabook or the Lenovo checking services. The best is if someone has already the system with them and they can help to check...

And also, for your information, I talked to my vendor, and they "confirmed" that the screen is 1366x768...

Any update on this? Did it turn out to be 1600x900 or 1366x768?

As far as I know, it should be a 1600x900 screen. I confirmed that with a Lenovo person in charge of Tabook and a reseller, who physically checked the label on the laptop for me.

Awesome, thanks - that's what I figured. The 6VU seems like an amazing value. I wish it had the 6300 wifi card, but it's otherwise a pretty loaded laptop with a 3 year warranty. Getting it from one of the resellers saves you a few hundred from the same configuration on CTO.

I'll probably try putting in a quad-core i7, but if that doesn't work, I'd be OK with the standard i5... the other T420 CPU options just aren't worth the price difference. And of course, I'll spend the $40 on another 4GB RAM stick, and I've already got an Intel SSD waiting around to be used. :)
