    Welcome to the forum!

You do understand that the LCD that you linked to is NOT the real deal, but a "compatible/replacement" panel?

I've previously checked in the forums for compatible screens, and this model seemed to be used by many, the link I provided is just for detailed specifications. If you know another screen model that is more suitable, I would appreciate if you give me the details. My concern is about the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard, I don't know if the cable used for HD screen is also compatible with the Full HD screen.

    Thanks

    You are missing my point:

If the screen is *the* real deal, then yes, by all means, it's a straight swap. You can keep the LCD cable as well.

    However...

The seller in question lists that panel as being "glossy" which it shouldn't be, if it's the original panel.

Furthermore, they list a bunch of T61-era panels as "glossy" and NONE of them ever were.

Not to mention the fact that they are offering "brand new" ID Tech LCDs. That company went out of business in 2005/2006.

    Catching my drift now?

Nice one, thanks for the information, I see that on ebay and other shops, that specific screen model is listed with Matte coating specification. I'll do a proper check before buying it. Thanks again

Yeah all of the ebay sellers say that!

Do you know where I could find the original screen manufactured by AU optronics ? Does Lenovo have an official store where I can get the proper screen ?

I've been looking on amazon and ebay and all the sellers I found so far have this
'' please note we may ship a 100% compatible item''

Not all of them. You have to dig deep and hard, though.

I'm certain that Lenovo could sell you a screen but that you would NOT like the price.

As previously stated, you'll have to put serious effort into obtaining a genuine panel. It's not easy but it IS possible.

    Good luck.

Another tip: search by Lenovo FRU # for the panel that you're interested in as well.

    Good luck.

    Thanks!

I also got this answer from a seller ''If you are upgrading your resolution you must do the research to ensure your laptop supports this screen, as most will not. In most cases you will also need to change the main video cable.''

Is this the case with the t440p upgrade to the IPS screen do I need to change the main cable also?

I will keep the same cable and check if it works.

I ordered my screen from ebay and probably I'll have it next week. This is what I purchased : B140HAN01.2 For Lenovo T440S MT 20AQ 20AR Compatible 14" LED Laptop Screen - IPS ( B140HAN01.2 For Lenovo T440S MT 20AQ 20AR Compatible 14" LED Laptop Screen - IPS | eBay ). I will post the result once I have it installed.

The screen is excellent, very good viewing angles, very good image quality, and it worked with the cable which connected the previous HD(1366x768) screen. The downsides of it are the fact that can be easily scratched and a small bent of the lid causes light leakage across the screen (is visible on dark colors, but this is probably because of thinkpad lid construction). Overall is a very good upgrade.

    Hello! :hi2:
I bought the same one (directly from the above link) to replace the 1366x768 screen on my brand spanking new T440p, but ran into a problem - the new screen had one half of the desktop replicated horizontally and the other half was covered with vertical coloured lines. I called RequireIT who said it was my machine not being able to support the higher resolution that caused the issue. Does this sound right? It doesn't match up to other user's experiences which makes me a little wary. I used the existing LCD cable, and the original low-res screen still works perfectly. Do I risk trying to fit another FHD screen, or am I stuck with what I've got?

    Welcome to the forum!
That's a line of BS if I've ever heard one.

Does the screen you got carry the proper part number and FRU number?

    Thanks for the welcome!

Unfortunately I've sent the panel back now, so I can't check the FRU number, but it was the right AUO part number. If the laptop is a T440p, surely they should all support higher resolutions? I can't check the details for the current screen at present (don't want to dismantle it right now), but I'm assuming all T440p systems come with standard connectors so should be easily swappable?

So frustrating - I bought a low-end system from the outlet store as I thought it would be easy to upgrade & save myself some pennies! Admittedly I've already chucked in an SSD and doubled the RAM, but I really want to get a decent screen!
