Thinkpad T480 Screen and Battery Life

I want to ask the owners of T480 here

I am looking at getting a T480 with WQHD, but I am worried about the reduction in battery life. How is the battery life affected by the increase in screen resolution? And is the FHD screen that bad if I were to consider it?

Also, if you are running a 72 Whr battery in the back, how is the weight like?

For my T460s WQHD comes with standard 49mWh can easily last more than 5 hours per changed.

If you more concern to work on-site without any power point , might be decide to add up extra battery capacity to last whole day long without plug in.

Actually for WQHD screen won't drain more than half and hour battery.

To be honest for option to WQHD it's more helpful for overall viewing and almost full sRGB colours.

 

Hopefully it does not affect it too much. I was able to get a T480 for a good price through one of our distributors for work but did not have the ability to customize the specs of it, they only had a couple models to pick from and the one model that they had with a MX150 in it, only came fully spec'd with the higher resolution screen. Personally I don't feel like I need that res on a 14" laptop and wanted the bezel of the 1080p screen with the option to put a physical cover on the webcam but for $1400 for a t480, i7, MX150, 512 ssd, high res screen...I couldn't really complain too much and ended up going with it.

 

How's your T480 with WQHD display? How many hours are you getting from it?

 

Everything has been pretty good with my laptop so far. To be honest I don't have a good estimation of battery life because I am typically using it plugged in, or using it for a little while on site some where, then packing it up and going back to my office but yesterday ran a conference call/meeting through my laptop and it went down roughly 10% or so in the hour we were on the call with it displaying both on my laptop and a TV so I'd say depending on usage and settings you could get idk...8-10 hours out of it maybe? But again, sadly my experience running for long periods of time on battery are a little limited. Would definitely say that the times I've used it on battery, it's not like I noticed it draining fast and was wondering to myself how I could make it through a day if I had to.

Display is good however I think the resolution is a little too high for a 14" display. I usually end up running at 1440p though because I feel it looks a lot better and crisper than running at 1080p or running it at 1440p with scaling enabled, but reading things can be a bit of a pain sometimes.

Have used the laptop a few times after work at friends houses to try playing some games as well and I'd say I'm fairly satisfied with the performance of it. I was able to run CS:GO and Hearthstone at 1440p native resolution with fairly smooth playable performance. Was able to load up WoW as well at 1440p and seemed playable around 80-100fps but did have FPS dips when in cities or populated places.

Overall I'd say I am happy with it and its the perfect small and light professional laptop I can use for work during the day when going on site, but also has enough power to be able to play games and things when on the go if I want to.

 

Honestly though I have to say I wish I waited a little before purchasing myself a laptop as the new P1 is now available for preorder and looks like a little bit thinner of a model, slightly bigger screen and more power out of it. I'm not sure if I would have liked a 15 inch screen but maybe in a slightly thinner laptop I wouldn't mind it as much. Definitely like my current laptop but that P1 looks so good. Same weight and little bit thinner with more power, bigger screen and best of all, it uses the old yellow tipped power connected on it that was used up to the x70 generation and removed when everything in the x80 gen moved to USB-C. Man, hindsight is always 20/20 huh?
